Big Guy has effectively combined the precept: “If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail,” with the Alinskyite mantra, “Never let a crisis go to waste,” and come up with a new, useful axiom for today’s world: “Never let a tragic death go without hammering for more gun control.”
Accordingly, in a move some might consider ironic, Big Guy – who “inadvertently” (wink, wink) teed up the racial animus by claiming that if he had a son, he’d look just like Trayvon – assumed his old role as Appeaser-in-Chief,
and issued the following statement yesterday:
The death of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy. Not just for his family, or for any one community, but for America. I know this case has elicited strong passions. And in the wake of the verdict, I know those passions may be running even higher. But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken. I now ask every American to respect the call for calm reflection from two parents who lost their young son. And as we do, we should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to widen the circle of compassion and understanding in our own communities. We should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis. We should ask ourselves, as individuals and as a society, how we can prevent future tragedies like this. As citizens, that’s a job for all of us. That’s the way to honor Trayvon Martin.
If George Zimmerman wasn’t a “self-professed Hispanic” we might have been able to use the case to promote the benefits of our new amnesty immigration bill too.
Instead, ahead of pushing our open southern border amnesty comprehensive immigration reform plan this week, we’re first going to invoke the angry masses to remain calm and quietly hawk for gun confiscation.
Because no matter what the problem, the answer is “more gun control”
Here’s my advice: ignore all the piffle emanating from the likes of the Reverend Justice Brothers, Ben Jealous, Malik Zulu Shabazz, and all the other Tweet-heads out there who are irresistibly drawn to indiscriminately download the contents of their low-information little brains to the tweetoshpere. (Unless you woke up feeling unusually masochistic, in which case Weasel Zippers has a comprehensive collection of the wit and wisdom of the moronic minions of the Society of Perpetual Race Baiters®).
The only extra-credit reading I would assign is Roger Simon’s “Obama Big Loser in Zimmerman Trial”the Trayvon case:
By injecting himself in a minor Florida criminal case by implying Martin could be his son, the president of the United States — a onetime law lecturer, of all things — disgraced himself and his office, made a mockery of our legal system and exacerbated racial tensions in our country, making them worse than they have been in years. This is the work of a reactionary, someone who consciously/unconsciously wants to push our nation back to the 1950s.
Boy, that’s harsh. He even went on to say:
(this case) was, quite literally, the first American Stalinist “show trial.” There was, virtually, no evidence to convict George Zimmerman.
Okay, now you’ve gone too far.
