The Lightbringer Fails To See The Light

TRUMP ECONOMY ON FIRE: Unemployment now 3.8% (Jobless rate at 18 year low!), and so much more of that 3 letter word: JOBS! JOBS! JOBS! (h/t Joe Biden). Everything Beating Expectations! Naturally, Barry takes credit: “I've got the economy set up well for him,” Obama said, according to Ben Rhodes upcoming book.

Funny, I don’t recall the Obama economic plan implementing any de-regulation initiatives. Or championing and passing a yuge income tax reduction  – both of which actually stimulated an economy that had languished for the previous 8 years.

In fact, I don’t remember any part of Obama’s economic plan beyond extended unemployment benefits and increased food stamps.  Oh, and the Stimulus Gigundulus  of course -

economic-stimulus-graphic

the largest transfer payment plan in the nation’s history: taking billions of taxpayer dollars and giving them to crony capitalists in various favored business sectors.

Ah yes, it was magical! Eight years of “Keynesian fairy dust”

keynesian-fire1

that created the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression (even with the aid of a zero percent interest rate artificially maintained to gin up the economy); or as Obamaphiles like to refer to it “the fourth longest expansion in U.S. history.”

Obama ended his 8 year reign ranked thirteenth out of 13 presidents in terms of economic growth: and several of them only had 4 years to play with.

13th of 13 economic growthImagine ranking below Gerry Ford’s economy. And Jimmy Carter’s! Brilliant!!

So I guess you could say Obama set the economy up well for Trump: there was no way to go but up.

Did Obama Push Too Far? I Believe “President Trump” Is The Answer.

“Maybe we pushed too far,” said Mr. Obama according to Ben Rhodes upcoming book.

So let’s unpack this, as they used to say back in the Obama years. Would you consider using the powers of the U.S. government to legally intimidate and bludgeon your political opponents to be “pushed too far?” Let’s ask Dinesh D’Souza.

2016_obama

I think you can put the answer to that down as a “yes.”

I would like to wish Ben Rhodes success with his new book. Because who deserves success more than a failed novelist turned national security advisor who decided to write historical fiction instead?

nyt ben rhodes

Hopefully it will compensate for his failure as a writer of fiction. Maybe it will also make up for his failures in the field of international arts and as a practitioner of domestic political prosecution. Who knows, if he had been better at his job…

Rhodes strategized and ran the successful Iran-deal messaging campaign, helped negotiate the opening of American relations with Cuba after a hiatus of more than 50 years and has been a co-writer of all of Obama’s major foreign-policy speeches.

maybe his (former) boss would have succeeded in fundamentally transforming America.

So I drink to Ben’s previous failures and offer for your Friday pleasure this month’s first installment of schadenfreude. Laugh till you cry.

Starbucks: When Your 3rd Place Is Also Your 1st and 2nd Place

Yes Virginia, there is such a thing as being terminally hip. And Starbucks is afflicted.

starbucks third space

If you’re unhip like me you had to look up “third place”

In community building, the third place is the social surroundings separate from the two usual social environments of home ("first place") and the workplace ("second place"). Examples of third places would be environments such as churches, cafes, clubs, public libraries, or parks. – Wiki

James Wood, who lives and works with hipsters, grasped its meaning immediately and responded accordingly:

potty training

Because the primary reason homeless people people use Starbucks as their “third place” is to use their potties for #1 and #2. And because they don’t have either a “first place” or a “second place.”

1st2nd3rd

But don’t feel bad, we’re all winners here in our 3rd place!

Good luck Starbucks. I hope you enjoy your new 3rd place. Or worse.

Meanwhile, the company's "Third Place Policy" — which would allow anyone to hang out or use the restrooms in its stores, regardless of whether they purchase anything — has already been leading partners and customers to question how Starbucks can continue to function as a business and refrain from becoming a chain of "homeless drop-in centers."Fox

Your Choice. Choose Wisely.

Q: What ever happened to “live and let live?”

A: Exactly!

Story:

Britain's butchers say they're "living in fear" after a spate of violent attacks they say were committed by militant vegans who are unhappy with their meat-based businesses. – DW

Now I have nothing against vegetarians or vegans, but you have to admit, there’s something funny about the phrase “militant vegans.”

vegan militant

Although, there was Nasim Aghdam who went on a rampage when she thought YouTube censored her vegan videos:

The woman responsible for wounding three people at YouTube headquarters Tuesday was a vegan activist angered by policy changes that hampered her ability to profit from the videos she posted on the platform.

Nasim Aghdam, a 38-year-old San Diego resident who frequently made videos focused on the evils of meat consumption, accused YouTube of discrimination and arbitrary censorship in multiple posts on her personal website and social-media accounts.

“Youtube [sic] filtered my channels to keep them from getting views!” Aghdam wrote on her website. “There is no free speech in real world & you will be suppressed for telling the truth that is not supported by the system. – National Review

She’s certainly right about that last part, but I never realized that “the system” was opposed to vegans; I thought content suppression was reserved for conservatives.

censorship

But apparently vegans in Britain have decided to take matters into their own hands and fight “violence” with violence:

Small businesses, like Marlow Butchers in the town of Kent, have been vandalized with red paint. Other butchers say vegan activists have threatened to burn down their homes. Farmers who cultivate livestock for slaughter say they've been threatened, and even truck drivers who haul live animals to meat processing plants have had their windshields cracked by marauding groups of animal rights activists clad in black face masks. DW

Those crazy Brits. They lock people up for covering a Muslim pedophilia grooming trial rather than rapists and threaten to kill farmers and butchers for killing animals for food.

What happened to the Great Leftist Mantra of the ages: “my body, my choice?”

I guess that only applies if you make a choice they approve of.

(Re-)Training Day

Today is the day Starbucks closes over 8000 stores for a Virtue Signaling Caffeine-Free Day of Atonement™ and racial healing.

All because back in April some racist manager attempted to follow Starbuck’s racist store policy and threw a couple of guys (black, which is the only relevant fact) out of the store because they didn’t buy anything.

starbucks controversy

In April, a Starbucks manager in Philadelphia called the police when two young African-American men refused to leave his store for loitering. When the pair still refused to leave, they were arrested, setting off a national outcry.

Starbucks Chairman Howard Schultz quickly stepped into the fracas. Sitting down with the affected gentlemen, Schultz negotiated a deal which satisfied all parties. Part of the concessions that Starbucks made was to change store policies to prevent future racially-charged incidents.

Moving forward, Starbucks restrooms will be available to all patrons, irrespective of whether they’re paying customers. – InvestorPlace

Oh, plus the chain agreed to hold a special training day to teach baristas not to be racist pigs.

training day moviestarbucks

Of course, Starbucks has already reneged (can I say that?) on their new policy of opening its bathrooms to everyone.

starbucks red pill

They’ve since “clarified” the pathetic, knee-jerk policy they implemented in response to the bad publicity. After it became apparent that they had inadvertently turned their places of business into homeless shelters filled with “needles, drug baggies and blood all over the walls”  they established some additional “guidelines” to further “explain” their new open borders policy. Or as Rush explained:

“All of two days of human debris swarming Starbucks stores, and they had to immediately reinstitute the old policy that led to charges they were racist. I’m sorry, I just find it humorous. Very, very teachable moment. They won’t learn anything from it, but the rest of us certainly can use it as a teachable moment.”

So if you work at Starbucks, have a good day. My advice, having survived many corporate training sessions, is to sit up straight, look as if you are truly concerned and committed to implementing whatever change in behavior the facilitator is suggesting you embrace. Because remember: it’s not only right for the company, but it’s the right thing to do! As a human being.

DO NOT act as if you’re only there because there’s a gun to your head.

trainingday

Follow my suggestions and at the end of the session you’ll get a free cup of coffee, a gold star and maybe even an ‘attaboy!’ from the lead facilitator.

Freedom and Potato Salad: They Don’t Make Themselves

Justice is very swift in Britain these days. At least for right wingers: Tommy Robinson was arrested Friday and immediately sentenced to 13 months in jail.

Tommy’s crime? Reporting while White. He was livestreaming on Facebook outside of a Leeds court hearing on a gang accused of forcing young  girls into the sex trade, euphemistically known in Britain as “grooming.”

tommy robinson

Apparently that’s illegal in England - reporting on a crime committed by Muslims that is, not “grooming.”

Anti-Islam activist Tommy Robinson was arrested Friday [May 25] outside of a British court hearing on a gang accused of forcing women into sex, prompting protests Saturday…

So this weekend, as we commemorate our fallen patriots who gave their all in the name of freedom, don’t forget to include the fallen heroes from the Revolutionary War, our country’s original war dead. They are the ones who originally imagined a country founded on freedom. Britain continuously reminds us why it was necessary.

Now let’s get going, that potato salad’s not going to make itself.
