It’s Thanksgiving Week And The Natives Are Restless

I like to check Drudge once a week or so, just to see what’s going on in the now enemy camp of progressive reportáge. Today is classic, here’s a screenshot:

Well dang, whoever thought the elitists’ plan to stomp on our face forever could backfire? But imagine that - the Euros don’t want a return to fascism after all, no matter what or whom. Those old, white, native Euros that many of us have descended from are restless. We should pay attention, that may be one Euro trend worth perpetrating

But now ladies and gentleman of the MOTI, I officially begin the Thanksgiving week of recipes. And yes, the one I’m posting is a repeat; and that’s just fine because isn’t that what holiday traditions are made? By repetition? How else do you explain things like green bean casserole and this…

pear pineapple…whatever this is?

So here is my Thanksgiving breakfast entry, my little sisters pear gruyere strata. It’s a relatively new tradition but has earned its way into that distinction. It can be made the day before and baked the next morning.

 Pear Gruyere Strata

Ingredients

4  cups sliced peeled Anjou/Comice/Bartlett pears

1-2 Tbs. butter, melted

6 tablespoons granulated sugar, divided

12 slices cinnamon swirl bread (such as Pepperidge Farm), cut in half diagonally

Cooking spray

1-2 c. (4-8 ounces) shredded Gruyere cheese (depends on how gooey you want it, I like the 2 c.)

1 1/2 cups milk

1 c. eggs, lightly beaten

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon turbinado (or regular) sugar

maple syrup

Preparation

Combine pear, butter, and 1 tablespoon sugar in a large bowl; toss gently.

Arrange half of bread in an 11 x 7-inch glass or ceramic baking dish coated with cooking spray. Spoon pear mixture evenly over bread; top evenly with cheese. Arrange remaining bread over cheese.

Combine the remaining 5 tablespoons granulated sugar, milk, egg, and cinnamon, stirring with a whisk. Pour milk mixture over bread, pressing down to submerge. Cover and chill 8 hours or overnight.

 Preheat oven to 350°.

Uncover dish. Sprinkle turbinado sugar evenly over bread. Bake at 350° for 55 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes. Cut into 8 equal pieces; drizzle with syrup.

Very good with bacon and/or sausage.

So let the feasting season begin.

Not Guilty: A Good Way To Begin Thanksgiving Week

You might think that we’ve said all there is to say about the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse, but you’d be wrong. Not while Twitter is still out there.

First there’s the batsh*t crazy leftists like Stephen King:

kingNo Stephen, the medium is the message; that’s how we got here.

The ACLU, ever on the lookout for white supremacists in our midst:

aclu dangerousGosh, remember when the ACLU used to at least pretend to support Constitutional rights?

And even normies who still think we have a right to bear arms and protect ourselves were permitted to Tweet (for now):

black panthers kyleHint: not the left, they’ve wiped that part from the history deck

For a good overview of the entire landscape, Instapundit provides a very good compendium. A small example:

Spit Out That Black Pill. “As Bill Whittle (bless his name) puts it, most casualties happen after we know the war is won or lost. So be careful out there, and keep your clothes and weapons where you can find them in the dark. . . . Don’t get sloppy, but fight with all you’ve got, from where you are, with everything you can. Because in the end individual freedom wins.”

Matt Taibbi: The Rittenhouse Verdict is Only Shocking if You Followed the Last Year of Terrible Reporting. “Unrest wouldn’t be surprising. How could it be otherwise? Colleagues in national media spent over a year telling the country the 18-year-old was not just guilty, but a moral monster whose acquittal would be an in-your-face affirmation of systemic white supremacy.”

And speaking of the media, disappointment over the relatively quiet overnight (exception: Portland – way to go!) is palpable: we’ve come to expect “mostly peaceful” riots following decisions the left disagrees with.

“The left in this country has used terror tactics, starting violent riots and engaging in property destruction as a matter of right when they feel they have been wronged. We all now expect them to burn down cities when they get bad news. None of that is legal in our system of government. The people who should face a jury are the ones who burned businesses, committed arson, vandalism, and lawlessness, not the people who defended their town against them when law enforcement wouldn’t.”

rittenhouse-kenosha-139.png thirdWorkers board up Red Line Cycles store in anticipation of riots protests

NOBODY’S MORE DISAPPOINTED THAN CNN AND MSNBC: Kenosha Crowd Reacts to Rittenhouse Verdict…and It’s Not What the Lying Media Told You Would Happen. “Not only is the crowd overwhelmingly cheering for Rittenhouse and his right to self-defense, but the majority of the cars driving by were honking their horns in support of the verdict. This reaction gives me hope for America. Perhaps Americans do understand why our Constitutional rights are still important and why the mob cannot be allowed to have power over the law.”

Don’t worry though, their disappointment will be short-lived: BLM has planned riots protests in Chicago tonight. And strangely, no one on the left sees the relation between police being told to stand down and/or being defunded and armed civilians protecting private property in the streets.

Facts over feelings. “Of course, the real responsibility is that of politicians and law enforcement who let armed lefty thugs rampage at will in the streets, necessitating self-defense by people who had every right to expect the government to stand between them and the thugs. This is malfeasance, and in a just world those officials would be on trial.

If you don’t want people taking guns into scenes of civil unrest, then don’t pull police out and leave citizens to fend for themselves in scenes of civil unrest.”

And of course no summary of the Rittenhouse verdict would be complete without hearing what our elite black professional sports celebrities think about it:

Sports world reacts to Kyle Rittenhouse not guilty verdict in Kenosha protest shooting

Why is that important? Oh right, because Rittenhouse is “white” and the “sports world” is pretty “black” – or as Joe Biden would say, “negro.”

So, finally, that’s all I have to say about the Rittenhouse verdict. Thanksgiving is right around the corner and that means “Holiday Recipe” week around here, so don’t say you weren’t warned.

Oh, and happy Caturday.

Coming Soon: A Police State Near You

fascism

It’s amazing how many people can view the same reality, watch the same train barreling towards the same open section of track, and still believe with all their heart that it will still reach its original destination rather than land in a pile of destruction.

Screen-Shot-2021-10-13-at-9.11.16-AM

I don’t know if people with such flawed vision were born with an extra Pollyanna gene or simply lack a critical thinking gene. They seem to believe that all slippery slope arguments are fallacious, not just the emotionally loaded ones that ignore both reason and plausibility. So they end up believing in the most unreasonable, implausible outcomes – like defunding the police will lead to less crime and more “social justice” – rather than the obvious – more crime, less justice of all kinds.

Which brings me to this: Colorado Mom who Fought Against Voter Fraud, Critical Race Theory and Forced Masking in Schools Raided by FBI SWAT team. If you have any outrage left, unleash it now, on this sort of governmental intimidation and Justice Department overreach:

An FBI SWAT team raided the home of an activist mother of three in Colorado on Tuesday, Nov. 16, knocking down her door, bursting into the house and handcuffing her while she was homeschooling her children.

This is the first known case of the federal government making good on its promise to not only intimidate but actually carry out a raid on a mom who was involved in her local school board politics, said Brannon Howse, who interviewed Sheronna Bishop Wednesday night.

Ask yourself, or more imperatively, ask your liberal friend or relative, if this looks anything like the country they thought they were living in:

The U.S. Department of Justice and Attorney General Merrick Garland issued an Oct. 4 memorandum directing federal, state and local law enforcement to look for parents to prosecute nationwide who may have made "threats" and made "harassing" phone calls to school board members nationwide, equating such parents to domestic terrorists.

Now a mother, Sheronna Bishop of Grand Junction, Colorado, has felt the brute force of the FBI's heavily armed SWAT unit used against her family…

Because to me it looks more like a boot, stepping on our faces.

orwell's bootsAnd they’re lacing them up as we speak

Aside from some local coverage and Lindell TV there has been no coverage of this egregious raid. It won’t be on CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC or even FOX because Mike Lindell’s been banned for having the audacity to question the validity of the fraudulent election. Just like Sheronna Bishop. I could be next. So could you.

By the way, the home of the campaign manager for U.S. Rep Lauren Boebert was also raided at the same time.

U.S. Rep Lauren Boebert & Sherronna BishopU.S. Rep Lauren Boebert and Sheronna Bishop

The slippery slope from intimidation for “dangerous ideas” to fascism has been well established; it is a non-fallacious argument.

It is certainly beginning to feel like that dark night of the soul. I don’t know what we can do about it other than spread the word but I do know that if we do nothing our nation will slide down that slippery slope as surely as did the Italians, the Germans…

I firmly believe that if Rush were still with us he would tell us that now IS the time to panic.

Sadly, I don’t know anymore.

Democrats Can’t Meme – Or Can They?

I once looked forward to Throwback Thursdays. But lately for some odd reason all that comes to mind in the “throwback” department are thoughts of Jimmy Carter’s 70s: when Iran was calling the shots and threatening Americans with extinction, gas lines were interminable and hyperinflation a fact of life. You know, the good old days before we even had electric cars so it was harder to pretend we didn’t need fossil fuels at all (h/t Jennifer Granholm). Although in the spirit of TT you may recall that Jimmy did his best, in his Crisis of Confidence Speech, to convince us we could if we all just put on a sweater and turned the thermostat down.

Yes the 70s were pretty much a disaster, economy wise. Not to mention the fashion! A nightmare unto itself what with all the skinny tops, fat bottoms,

70s bad fashion

huge collars, collars.70s jpg

ascots, ruffles, ponchos, tartans, men’s short-shorts, striped tube socks, jumpsuits, etc., etc.. I’m not claiming current fashion trends are any better mind you, just a different sort of awful.

modern fashion

But once is quite enough for most past mistakes. I don’t care who you are.

rod stewart 70s

Although Jerry Ford had a killer campaign slogan that Biden could use now:

win

But honestly, if Biden wants to switch up his Build Back Better slogan (BBB) – which he should because it’s silly and just calls to mind archaic Better Business Bureau -   I think he should recycle one from his previous administration. Obama’s  honest to goodness real, albeit short-lived, slogan of “Win The Future” – proof that Democrats can’t meme. Or can they?

Clean Up On Aisle 1-100!

It’s chirp, peep and cheep day around here so I need to get my ducks in a row.

ducks in a tubSome people (liberals, mostly) would consider this a row.

It’s also pizza day around here, as I’ve discovered that Raj is much happier if he gets a pizza fix once a week. We can forego Taco Tuesday but Pizza Wednesday is sacred. I might even get him a Pizza!Pizza!™ today as he’s been very busy getting the MOTI list updated with all the new requests. If it were up to me you’d be waiting for the new list until after the New Year; I hate Excel, it still gives me flashbacks.

So as you can see Raj has earned himself a double and a double he shall have. I’m going to see if Little Caesars can whip up two of the FJB pepperoni specials like the ones Phil Solorzano created in honor of our feckless, clueless and corrupt President.

fjb pizza pizza

“Pepperoni more than doubled. Most products have doubled…there are products you can’t find, that are out for two to three weeks. It’s just a pain in the butt. It’s the same pepperoni, the same distributor, but twice the price.”

little caesars two great pizzasTwo great pizzas, one low death-blow price!

And it’s a Win!Win! – no cooking! No mess to clean up! Thanks Brandon!

Of course the mess left behind by the Brandon Administration will require a lot more than a sink full of soapy water to cleanup.

That’s What Happens When Society Collapses

There could be a verdict in the Rittenhouse trial as early as today. Closing arguments (and antics, in the case of the prosecutor, see picture below) were made yesterday.

Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger argued that Rittenhouse provoked the attack, thereby forfeiting his right to self-defense.

Rittenhouse instigated the first shooting by pointing his weapon at people, and caused the subsequent encounters by creating an “active shooter” situation in which protesters felt an urgency to disarm him.

While making that claim Binger demonstrated by picking up Kyle’s rifle and aiming it at the spectator section of the courtroom, with his finger on the trigger. One would think that every moron in America would know by now that’s a violation of the most basic rule of gun safety. If they didn’t know before they certainly should following the coverage of last month’s on set shooting by Alec Baldwin.

Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger holds Kyle Rittenhouse's gunDemocrats don’t know anything about gun safety and don’t do learning. Exhibit 1

By his own argument people in the courtroom would have been justified in trying to take him down.

Jury deliberation begins this morning. The governor has called out 500 National Guard to be on hand in the event the verdict drives the roving horde to begin their Christmas shopping ahead of black Friday. I’m unclear what the pretext for this riot will be. The shooter is white, the 3 people who were shot, including the 2 dead men, were white. There was no police involvement to blame. How then will the verdict, any verdict, in this case result in the allegation of ‘systemic racism and police brutality’ which is all that’s necessary these days to provide sanctioned rioting and looting? Your guess is as good as mine, but mark my words: there will be riots if BLM has anything to say about it.

Because that’s what happens when society collapses.

In Which We Virtue Signal Our Way Through Another ‘Dark Winter’

It’s officially snow season around these parts, having snowed lightly most of the weekend. Is there anything as lovely as the first snow on trees still sporting their autumn finery?

ken scott Color Tour red and whiteColor Tour Red and White Ken Scott Photography

When the first snow arrives before the trees have completely shed their colorful autumn apparel it can be “triggering” – forcing us to involuntarily reflect on the elements of life’s rites of passage: separation, transition, return.

Ken Scott Color Tour side by side IISomewhere in the Leelanau Peninsular - Ken Scott Photography

When Joe Biden told us “we're about to go into a dark winter” it was a promise, not a warning. Now that his dark winter is upon us most people just want a safe passage back to normalcy. Despite being ruled by our enlightened progressive betters for a mere 10 months the majority of the country would prefer to separate from Washington’s train wreck policies, transition to a slightly less suicidal path in hopes of returning to something a little closer to the foundational values of this once great nation. Is that asking for too much?

flowers-snow

Yeah, probably, with these jackals running things. Meanwhile, as the jackals wrap up of the COP26 Glasgow climate meeting the Extinction Rebellion Climate activists held a final rites ceremony for its “failure and stupidity.” I couldn’t agree more, but likely for antithetical reasons. As some wag noted:

nyt climate change virtue signaling

“The world’s greatest minds are meeting in Glasgow to determine how to end 3.5 billion years of bad weather via virtue signaling.”
