No One Left Behind...In A Swing State

Thank goodness Sandy came along. None of our other approaches seem to be working anymore so we really needed a new shiny thing.

lower manhattan lights outOr not so shiny, as the case may be. We work pretty well in the dark too.

Plus this new crisis allows BO to do a little “presidencing” – something he hasn’t been doing much of lately. In case you’re wondering, “presidencing” involves stringing together  authoritative declarative sentences (with or without TOTUS) such as:

"My instructions to the federal agents has been, 'Do not figure out why we can't do something. I want you to figure out how we do something,'"

Which sounds much more presidential than any of BO’s recent raft of campaign ads that some people consider juvenile, tasteless and low rent. Butt in their defense, they’re aimed at specific constituencies within our ranks that, well, many people consider juvenile, tasteless and low rent.

In case you missed some of these ads because you don’t subscribe to Moveon.org or get Ms.NBC on your cable channels, here’s a brief recap.

First, an ad pitched to the “For The Children” crowd (i.e. Clinton soccer moms and teachers of propaganda) there’s the Children-For-Obama production (not to be confused with the original Praise Obama children -  I’m sure you remember them - mmm, mmm, mmm!):

for the children obamaInnocent little pawns for Obama

In which children of the future sing of Republican perdition: dirty air, dirty water, pushing granny off the cliff, dead polar bears and “fixed” gays – whatever that is. The ad scores high on the “cuteness,” “mendacity,” “exploitative” and “propaganda” scales;  low on the decency, tolerance and truth scales.

Next there was the foul-mouthed senior citizens ad aimed at, well, I’m not sure exactly which constituency we were going for here, low information voters perhaps?

nursing home foul mouthed

It features a group of senior citizens with anger management issues discussing what violence they would like to unleash if Governor Romney wins all in NSFW dialogue. I’d recommend upping their meds. I think they’re still covered by Obamacare.

Then “for the women” there was this “first timers” for Obama spot, featuring the country’s second most questionable virgin (Madonna has a stranglehold claim on that title in perpetuity). Rather than watching the creepy original again, I’ll just let Greg Gutfeld explain how this political hot potato was perceived:

So, after receiving less than spectacular reviews in the presidential polls for these attempts at audience segmentation, the Big Brains were relieved to have a spectacular storm to divert everyone’s eyes away from them and other man-made disasters.

benghazi_cloud_white_house_10-28-12-2

So Big Guy moved quickly to address the situation from Red Cross Headquarters; imploring people everywhere to “lean forward:”

"I want you to cut through red tape, I want you to cut through bureaucracy; there's no excuse for inaction at this point. I want every agency to lean forward and to make sure we are getting the resources where they're needed as quickly as possible."

“Lean Forward?” There’s an original idea. I wonder who writes this stuff?

MSNBC-TWITTER-ICONserious journalism at msnbc

Oh right, the Ms.NBC “talent”

So while the SNN (Selective News Networks) wolf pack hunts down Romney for an answer to their critical question regarding his plans for eliminating the middle man in the disaster aid process, FEMA:

"Governor, are you going to eliminate FEMA?"

"Governor, you've been asked 14 times, why are you refusing to answer the question?"

Not one member of the SNN beta pack

dogs bowing

dares ask BO why he is determined to make sure that no one is left behind in the aftermath of Sandy:

“This is a tough time for a lot of people; millions of folks all across the Eastern Seaboard, but America's tougher. And we're tougher because we pull together, we leave nobody behind, we make sure we respond as a nation and remind ourselves that whenever an American is in need, all of stand together to make sure we're providing the help that's necessary.”

SOS-bo denied

Because that would just be rude; especially while Big Guy is so busy “presidencing” for the cameras American people.

Heaven has welcomed a beautiful saint and patriot today - our friend, mother of 12, author and blogger, Barbara Curtis.

She was a testimony to God's grace and transforming power. She had a wise, compassionate heart, and had such an amazing impact on so many people she didn't even know. I have no doubt that she is now hearing the words that all of us long to one day hear: "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

Rest in peace, Barbara. You will be greatly missed, and we won't let all your work be in vain. We will keep up the fight. Our prayers are with your husband Tripp and your children as they grieve.

The earth is certainly a better place for Barbara having walked it. She was a good friend to MOTUS, having helped me in many ways large and small through the past four years. All of us who considered her a friend, mentor and inspiration will miss her terribly. Rest in Peace, my friend.

Barbara’s friend and neighbor Elizabeth Foss writes of Barbara’s struggle to re-enroll her daughter Maddy in Catholic University for the spring semester because she was not able to raise the necessary funds. Elizabeth has established an account for those who wish and are able to donate to Maddy’s education fund.

Video Denigrates the Prophet Neptune; Atlantic Storms East Coast

The severe threat of the rising ocean that refused to recede as Big Guy commanded forced him to cut his campaign short yesterday. Butt not before delivering some very expensive pizzas to his campaign staff in Orlando.

No, wait - that’s  a campaign stop in New Hampshire - here we are in the Situation Room, looking presidential:

bo noseMonitoring the rise of the rogue ocean

Reports are now rolling into the situation room that the storm surge was caused by a group of Oceanists whipped into a frenzy over the release of a video denigrating their prophet Neptune.

neptune“Rise to smite the infidels who insult me!”

Once the militant waves organized, with backup from the wind, they stormed ashore wreaking damage, death and destruction everywhere in their path.

pier turned into stonehengeSandy turns Atlantic City pier into Stonehenge at sea

Both New York Nanny Mayor Bloomberg and New Jersey Governor Christie requested backup and assistance from the Coast Guard, butt somebody in the chain of command ordered them to stand down for some unknown reason. Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Robert J. Papp Jr. issued a statement saying that “no one at any level in the Coast Guard told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate.” There has been no further information forthcoming from the situation room, nor is any expected. Butt I did hear that Fox news will be doing a special on it this weekend.

Meanwhile, the White House has issued a formal request that YouTube take down the offensive Video in hopes of calming the roiling seas.

Our climate protection Czar, Al Gore, also issued a statement saying “this video is disgusting and reprehensible…still there is no justification, none at all, to respond to this video by violently attacking the East Coast.”

So that’s our story, and we’re sticking to it. So go right ahead Charles, have your fun, criticizing Big Guy’s handling of this very serious situation:

H/T Gateway Pundit

“Well, he says he’s not concerned about the impact on the elections. I’m sure he’s very sincere on that. But it is a little odd that he shows up in the Briefing Room where he hasn’t shown up in the Briefing Room for what, a month-and-a-half? For Libya or for anything else for that matter. Then you get the photo-ops of him in the Situation Room deploying I guess the utility crews who restore power all over America. Where you would think he might want to use the Situation Room to convene high level people during the night hours when our people were under attack in Benghazi. It’s hard to look at this, playing the president, playing the Commander in Chief in what’s a natural disaster that really doesn’t require a lot of from the White House. It’s up to the governors mostly. The White House and the government release money. That’s all they do and he’s really good at releasing money.”

bo briefing room for SandyBO arrives at his Greek Columns in the briefing room to condemn the anti-Neptunists for their role in the ocean’s uprising.

The fact is, this crisis is so serious that Big Guy’s Big Brains are busy as we speak figuring out the best way to handle this tragedy. After consulting with out international team of expert campaign advisors:

           hugo bo2putin winks

I can report that we are seriously considering the need to cancel next Tuesday’s election. It doesn’t look like we can suspend it indefinitely, so we’re looking at rescheduling it to sometime in the 2016-18 timeframe.

I’m sure you’ll understand the need for the delay, considering all of the man-made disasters we are currently dealing with: sinking poll numbers, bad news on the jobs front, and that whole Benghazigate affair that should have been resolved by now due to under-reporting.

So we ask for your patience as we continue to deal with this huge, unexpected Storm Of The Century, So Far (SOTCSF).

Warning, Storm of the Century On Direct Path for the White House

The Selective News Networks (SNN) have been reporting 24-7 on Sandy: the Storm Of The Century, So Far (SOTCSF).

That pretty much eliminates their opportunity to report on either the worst economy of the century (so far) or the worst Coverup of the century (so far). In case you’re keeping track, there are still several outlets that still haven’t touched the Benghazigate coverup, lies and denial of assistance (that had to come from somewhere, butt nobody has taken responsibility for it as of yet - nor will they prior to the reelection). Among the outlets too big to fail to report the news include - butt are not limited too - NBC, ABC, CBS, the New York Times the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times. CNN made mention of it in passing.

Here’s a look at how the people (about 50% of the country who watch Fox News) who have heard this story react. I think you’ll see why we can’t afford to expose the other half to this devastating news just yet:

It might also explain one of the reasons Big Guy decided to take the Wee Wons to church yesterday.

wee won in lock stepIs it too early to predict Wee Won 1 will be following in BO’s footsteps? (And Wee Won 2, not so much?)

Lady M wasn’t able to attend services with them since she was packin’ for what may prove to be her last campaign trip (nothing on her schedule after spending tonight in Chicago, probably due to the SOTCSF). Her “Wrap it Up” tour takes her to Iowa today with the sleepover in Chicago before bringing Air Force Won Too home to wait out the SOTCSF.

                   mo stridemo lv

I haven’t seen her speech for today yet, butt it will probably be similar to the one she gave on Friday at a private fundraiser in La Jolla. Below are a few excerpts:

I am so happy to be back in San Diego.  It is just such a beautiful city.  It’s one of those we’re kind of looking at when this is all over, don’t you think?  (Laughter and applause.)

What the heck is that all about? When this is all over!?! Does she have access to poll data that we don’t!?!

And thank you all for taking the time to join us today.  It’s morning.  I think somebody asked me that -- do I know what date it is.  (Laughter.)  I only know that it’s 11 days before Election Day.  It is Friday.  It is somewhere in the morning time.  And Halloween is Wednesday.  (Laughter and applause.)  I do know the important things.

REno nv before debate momo pie shop

Important! Only 11 more days of free pastries!

One of the things I have enjoyed doing over the past several months in this campaign is that I get to talk about the man that I have loved and admired, and I am so proud of my husband -- (applause) -- these 23 years -- I get to tell you all about him.  (Applause.)

college green dublinButt if she did, she’d have to shoot you

Although this man, this love of my life, he is handsome and charming and incredibly smart, and patient and kind -- that’s not why I married him.  (Laughter.)  No, no.  Those are good things, but what truly made me fall in love with Barack is something that we’ve seen for four years -- and more:  his character.  We have seen it at work every day.

bo-fingerYes we have

And I loved how devoted Barack was to his family, especially to the women in his life.  That had meant something to me.  I didn’t know I was going to have two girls.  But I loved watching him with his mother and his grandmother.  I saw the respect he had for his mother -- how proud he was that she was able to put herself through school and still pay the bills and take care of him and his sister a single mom.

stanley ann dunham soetoroModel mom, just like Julia

And that the tenderness that he saw -- felt for his grandmother.  How grateful he was that long after she should have retired, she was still getting up every morning and catching that bus to her job at the community bank, doing everything she could to support their family.

thrown_under_the_busWho knew she would wind up under that bus one day?

And he also watched as she was passed over for promotion, again and again, simply because she was a woman.  See, but what he took away from that is that he saw how this woman kept on getting up every day, doing that same job without complaint or regret.

mo closeupThereby paving the way for Lady M to complain every day of her life about not getting paid to be FLOTUS

And see, here’s the thing, like so many families in this country, our families just weren’t asking for much.  They didn’t want much, and they didn’t begrudge anyone else’s success…In fact, they admired it.  They didn’t mind if others had much more than they did.

Obama_EnvyReally!?!

We believe that the truth matters, and you don’t take shortcuts, you don’t game the system.  You don’t play by your own set of rules.

bo and the alinsky wayUnless they’re Chicago Rules

And finally, we believe in keeping our priorities straight -- because each and every one of us know very well that cutting “Sesame Street” is no way to balance our budget.  That is not the answer.  (Applause.)

big bird not murder

Yes, we need to cut wasteful spending, but we also need to make smart investments in things like education and infrastructure for an economy that’s built to last.

huge, dangerous machines that produce negligible amounts of energy and are installed primarily for their propaganda value windmillsolar_panel_fire

Build to last: Exploding windmills and self-immolating solar panels

And I have seen how important it is to have a President who doesn’t just tell us what we want to hear, but who tells us the truth, even when it’s hard -- especially when it’s hard.

an_ambassador_died,_Obama_lied_

And finally, when it comes to understanding the lives of women, when it comes to standing up for our rights and opportunities, here’s one thing you know:  My husband will always have our backs.  Always.  (Applause.)

Women-Unemployed

And let me tell you, today, as a father of two beautiful daughters, he knows what it means to want those young women in this country to have the same rights and freedoms as our sons.

julia the uninvited guestEqual rights to free stuff

In addition to everything he has done for our economy, for health care, for education, for women, I want you to tell them how Barack ended the war in Iraq.  Tell them how he took out Osama bin Laden.  (Applause.)  Remind them how he is fighting every day to get veterans and military families the benefits that they have earned.  (Applause.)

cut military careBecause they can afford to pay a little bit more, right?

Remind them, tell them about the brave servicemembers who will never again have to lie about who they are to serve the country they love.  (Applause.)

gay marine homecoming kiss We have not only redefined “marriage” we have redefined “normal”

And remind them of the concrete plans -- do you hear me?  I emphasize “concrete” -- (laughter) -- real plans that Barack has laid out for the next four years.

obamaplan jobsBecause if “The New Economic Patriotism: A plan for jobs and Middle-class Security” wasn’t real, could I do this with it?

But here’s the thing that I know for sure:  Thankfully, in this President, Barack Obama, we have a leader with a deep and unyielding faith in the American people;

If not the American Idea

As President, he has been fighting for us.  And that is why, when the stakes are so high, we can always trust that this man, this wonderful man that I have the pleasure to be married to, that he will always have our backs.

There was lots more, butt I think you’ve got the gist of it.

So be sure to take cover, because this SOTCSF is not just a little black cloud. To paraphrase Joey B, it’s a big f***ing deal.

A Great Tsunami is Headed Our Way

Gosh, so much to report. So little time to report it. Where shall I start?

Maybe with an update on Big Guy’s preparations for Sandy, the big blow headed our way. (Please, no Fluke jokes, you know which “Sandy” I’m talking about.)

“President Obama will attend rallies in Florida and Ohio on Monday, but then return to the White House to monitor Hurricane Sandy, press secretary Jay Carney said in a statement Saturday night.”

-bo hurricane mapMonitoring the Frankenstorm

bo's empty chairMonitoring our Embassy in Benghazi

Because as you all know, there’s nothing more important for the President to spend his time on during the reelection season than monitoring all incoming storms.

"The president is being regularly updated on the storm and ongoing preparations, and he has directed his team to continue to bring all available resources to bear as state and local partners continue to prepare for the storm," Carney said in a statement.

drone for hurricane trackingDrones reassigned to monitor the hurricane

And making those crucial life and death decisions about where to deploy our precious resources as disaster bears down.

"FEMA has already deployed teams and has pre-staged resources to potentially affected states and areas ahead of the storm, and FEMA remains in close contact with emergency responders in states up and down the East Coast to ensure there are no unmet needs.

You know, we could maybe learn a thing or two from FEMA. Like pre-staging resources ahead of the storm – what a great idea! That way, you have them where you need them in the likely case that chaos breaks out. Therefore, “no unmet needs.” What a concept!

obama-flag-bloody-wallunprotected in benghaziInquiring minds want to know; fortunately we don’t have many.

The president will continue to receive regular briefings on these efforts, and has made clear that he expects his team to continue to lean forward as Hurricane Sandy approaches." [ed. Hey, I don’t write this stuff, I just reflect it.]

madonna superbowlknee pads are recommended as well

And don’t even try to tell me that BO hasn’t demonstrated leadership on the “leaning forward” front:

bow copy I think they all got your message

Butt speaking of gathering storms, have you seen this? It looks like another storm on the horizon and this one’s huge too: The Des Moines Register endorses…Romney!?! Romney, with an “R” after his name, Romney? The last time the Des Moines Register endorsed a Republican was 40 years ago, in 1972!

This has a certain ring of familiarity to it doesn’t it? “Déjà vu like ‘72” or something?

You do remember the 1972  Nixon vs. McGovern race, right?

1972 electoral map

In one of the most stunning blowouts in US history, Nixon took 49 of the 57 states, with only Massachusetts casting it’s fate with the liberal Democrat.

I’m not implying that Romney is Nixonian; in fact I think BO has firmly established his claim to that honor in this year’s contest (here and here).

obama-nixon-morph-continuous

Nor am I trying to imply anything negative about George McGovern - heck, I think if he were running today he would probably win, assuming he wasn’t considered too conservative.

Butt getting back to the UNEXPECTED endorsement of Romney by the Des Moines Register: If only this had come out before the editorial board made their decision, it might have swung them back into Big Guy’s camp. To air tomorrow, BO tells Joe Scarborough that he takes “full responsibility” – just 6 weeks after the fact:

President Obama vowed Saturday to hold the right people accountable if it's found that there was breakdown in communications within the intelligence community ahead of last month's attack in Benghazi.

"What my attitude on this is is if we find out there was a big breakdown and somebody didn’t do their job, they’ll be held accountable," he said in an interview with "Morning Joe" hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski conducted in Nashua, N.H., according to a report on MSNBC.com.

"Ultimately as commander-in-chief I am responsible and I don’t shy away from that responsibility," he added.

helicopter troops empty chairSomebody will be hung out to dry; that’s a promise

And don’t think that coming in off the campaign trail in order to take personal charge of handling all the details of Sandy isn’t a sacrifice. There’s no place BO would rather be than campaigning. After all, he’s away from all his daily household chores (poop scooper), as well as all of his other day to day responsibilities that weigh so heavily on his shoulders.
