“Munch”-Hausen By Proxy–It’s a Real Thing

Here is Lady M, encouraging little children to develop and submit their very own “healthy lunch” recipe in order to win an invite to her Children’s State Dinner.

Apparently she is unaware of a new pandemic sweeping the country that could be as serious as the obesity epidemic: orthorexia-nervosa. I’m deathly serious, it’s a real thing:

 A new type of eating disorder is emerging where people are becoming obsessed with eating to improve their health.

Victims of this 'health food eating disorder' may exhibit the following symptoms:

  • may be 'plunged into gloom' by eating a piece of bread
  • gluten-bad

  • may become anxious about when their next superfood hit of kale, chia or quinoa hit is coming
  • OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADinner will be ready in 4 hours!

  • Exaggerated focus on food can be seen in raw, clean and paleo dieters
  • healthy school lunch

    Although not currently listed in the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5) orthorexia nervosa is clearly an eating disorder. What else would you call a person obsessed with “righteous eating” that involves dietary fads “that promise superior health by restricting whole food groups without a medical reason or even a valid scientific explanation.”

    Gluten-Free-MenuI’m pretty sure Lady M isn’t suffering from this disease herself, although she may be promoting it. And she may have a related disorder - “orthorexia nervosa by proxy” (related to Münchausen syndrome by proxy) – in which the sufferer is obsessed with imposing “righteous eating” habits on everyone else.

    First lady Michelle Obama visits students making smoothies with fresh fruits and vegetablesI will not eat  Yes you will eat your vegetables!

    Worse, I think our President-in-Waiting may be developing a full blown case of this disease. Did you see what she ordered when she and Huma slipped into the Chipotle incognito by avoiding interaction with the staff and ignoring all of the “real people” there?

    hillary chipotle

    Either that or she’s just trying to establish her Hispanic bona fides before Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz try to  claim Latino roots.

    Butt I have good news – Tito’s Vodka is Made in America AND Gluten Free!

    Now both Lady M and Hills are free to go about their daily pathologies completely guilt free and without a whiff of hypocrisy. Bottoms Up!

    Enter the Dragon Lady

    TODAY’S POST IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE LETTER “H”

    Apparently there were some (many) who did not find Hillary’s (can I still call her that?) roll out amazing. Some felt her new logo looked like a sign directing you to the nearest hospital:

    hillary logo.jpg.CROP.promovar-mediumlarge

    While others thought her video announcement looked more like a Colonial Penn Life Insurance commercial.

    Some took the opportunity to remind the electorate that this would be another 2 for the price of 1 campaign:

    bill-clinton-dogBuy one pantsuit, get the Big Dawg for free!

    The mainstream however was very impressed:

    Hillary Clinton’s campaign announcement on Sunday lit up Facebook — and made a bigger splash than the announcements of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) or Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).

    There were 10.1 million interactions on the social network about Clinton’s announcement originating form 4.7 million users in the 24 hours around the launch, Facebook said.

    Clinton’s sleek announcement video was also viewed more than 1.8 million times on the social platform.

    There was no breakdown of how many of those hits were pointing out the gaffe in the first ever Hillary For America press release, “…she’s fought children and families all her career.”

    alg-russia-hillary-clinton-jpg“Bring it!”

    And with that pugnacious past she is presumably well qualified to carry on Big Guy’s fight against America:

    Barry, trashing America again, at the Summit of the Americas in Panama City in the presence of Communist leaders of Cuba and Venezuela, well known antagonists of families and children.

    I am a student of history so I tend to actually be familiar with many of these episodes that have been mentioned. I am the first one to acknowledge that America’s application to concern around human rights has not always been consistent. And, I’m certainly mindful that there are dark chapters in our own history in which we have not always observed the principles and ideals upon which the country was founded. Just a few weeks ago I was in Selma, Alabama celebrating the 50th anniversary of a march across a bridge that resulted in horrific violence and the reason I was there and the reason it was a celebration is because it was a triumph of human spirit in which ordinary people without resort to violence were able to overcome systematic segregation. There voices were heard and our country changed. America never makes a claim about being perfect, we do make a claim about being open to change.”

    So, since we’ve tried that unicorn thing with limited success:

    Another Rendezvous With Destiny?

    Since she’s been running for president since 2000, Hillary’s Tweet at noon today may well qualify as the most anti-climactic announcement of the Internet era. The “Hillary For America” campaign has written what they believe to be a winning mission statement:

    “To give every family, every small business, and every American a path to lasting prosperity by electing Hillary Clinton the next President of the United States.

    This campaign is not about Hillary Clinton and not about us — it’s about the everyday Americans who are trying to build a better life for themselves and their families.”

    Got that? A chicken in every pot and four more years of the winning post-racial Obama domestic and foreign  plan; only this time it will be a post-gender America too. Oh, and it’s not about Hillary.

    hillary-clinton3That’s right sweet cheeks, if you win, no more War on Women to kick around

    And she’s already so busy leaning FORWARD. - that she’s working on her succession plan for when her 8 years are up:

    If I were Chelsea I might be a bit offended that they found it necessary to photoshop me to within an inch of my life to make me “presentable.” I mean, even Lady M is still sort of recognizable when they’ve finished ‘shopping her. The only other “cover girl” distorted to the point of qualifying as a whole new person under the FBI’s witness protection program was Debbie Wasserman-Schultz:

    Butt I digress, I was discussing the inevitability of Hillz…

    Hillary-liesEverybody lies about everything, right?

    It is possible that, like other great men before her, she too has a rendezvous with destiny:

    There is a mysterious cycle in human events. To some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected. This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny.

    In this world of ours in other lands, there are some people, who, in times past, have lived and fought for freedom, and seem to have grown too weary to carry on the fight. They have sold their heritage of freedom for the illusion of a living. They have yielded their democracy.

    I believe in my heart that only our success can stir their ancient hope. They begin to know that here in America we are waging a great and successful war. It is not alone a war against want and destitution and economic demoralization. It is more than that; it is a war for the survival of democracy. We are fighting to save a great and precious form of government for ourselves and for the world. – Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 1936

    “You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.” – Ronald Reagan, 1964

    “What difference, at this point, does it make? – Hillary Clinton, 2013

    hill in black and white

    “It’s 3 a.m., and your children are safe and asleep. But there’s a phone in the White House, and it’s ringing. Something is happening in the world.”

    Somebody really should take the call. Because somebody’s destiny may be at stake.

    A Long, Slow Dance

    dancing-with-the-devil-256x300

    “We don’t want to be imprisoned by the past,” Obama said during a visit to Kingston, Jamaica. “When something doesn’t work for 50 years, you don’t just keep on doing it. You try something new.” – Barack Obama, April 9, 2015

    In that case, is it time to revisit “The Great Society” as well?

If Mayor Dennis Archer hadn’t added more than 1,100 employees in the 1990s when the city was flush but still losing population. If Kilpatrick had shown more fiscal discipline and not launched a borrowing spree to cover operating expenses that continued into Mayor Dave Bing’s tenure. We Mark on the Curve Around Here

    paretopareto-principle-for-work-80-20-rule

    It’s not for lack of humility that Big Guy gave his eponymous healthcare law a rating of 8 out of 10.

    “And the reason I don't put it at a 10 is because you can always improve something," he said in an interview with ABC News published Wednesday.

    It’s because it’s magnificence hasn’t been fully actualized yet. Watch out when that happens! Until then let’s just say it’s one of the more interesting applications of the 80/20 rule: having achieved 20% of the desired results we’re taking 80% of the credit.

    The high scoring is most likely due to one of two things, either the new Common Core standards:

    social studesOh Noes! They dint reely misspell “studies” did thay?

    Or the continuation of long spell of grade inflation, first noted in 2009, when Barry was invited by Oprah to grade himself on his first year in office. Like the amateur he was at the time, he took the bait instead of deferring that task to the American people who elected him:

    Interestingly, he gave himself an “Incomplete” on the economy in 2012, which is the same grade he gave in 2010 and 2011. I guess the American people felt that one term was long enough to complete that incomplete, so - judging from the Midterm election results – they gave him an F.

    That must have gotten his attention, because by this year, and all evidence to the contrary, Big Guy “upgraded” his accomplishments to a good solid A-.

    WASHINGTON (MarketWatch)—To hear the White House tell it, the November elections never happened and 2014 was a super-duper year for President Obama.

    In a “Year in Review” slideshow, the White House suggests 2014 represented a “breakthrough” for America. The Obama administration takes credit for:

    • An economy growing at a record pace;
    • The longest streak of private-sector job growth on record;
    • The number of Americans without health insurance falling to a near record low;
    • Concerted action to prevent sexual assaults on college campuses;
    • The highest high school graduation rate in the nation’s history;
    • Historic steps to reduce carbon pollution in the U.S. and around the world;
    • Checking the Ebola outbreak, Russian aggression in Ukraine and the ISIL terrorist group in the Mideast.

    Unfortunately for the Democrats, the public wasn't quite as enthusiastic about all the progress in 2014. They handed control of the Senate to Republicans in November for the first time since 2006 and gave conservatives their biggest House majority since 1928.

    Butt there is good news here: lowered standards, combined with grade inflation and marking on a curve  means that anybody reelly (sic) can grow up to be president.

    and why are they here?

    Of course it has now been revealed that the quote attributed to Maya wasn’t actually hers:

    “Her stamp features the phrase, “A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song,” which the USPS attributed to Angelou—though the direct quote may actually be from a different author.”

    Normally that would be embarrassing, butt hey - it’s Washington! What do you expect, real quotes?

    In fact I understand there is going to be a whole series of Maya stamps; all of which will contain things she didn’t say:

    The last time Lady M saw Maya Angelou before her death was in 2012 when she presented her with a BET lifetime literary achievement award:
