It seems the leader of Sweden’s liberal-conservative Moderate Party, Ulf Kristesson, has finally seen the light and acknowledged that “long-standing uncontrolled immigration” has indeed “driven serious crime.”
You might be asking yourself ‘what took him so long?’ but the answer is painfully obvious – the same thing that prevents our own country from building the wall and closing the border: liberalism and political correctness.
Sweden appears to finally be waking up to the insanity of it all, unlike Michael Bloomberg. The Democrat’s latest wannabe-come-lately has just apologized for the effective crime stopping ‘stop and search’ policy in place while he was mayor of New York. With absolutely no acknowledgment of it’s effectiveness, but such is the nature of pandering.
Which leads me to this week’s non-politically correct multi-culti lesson: Profiling Saves a Lot of Time.
Just ask Sweden if you don’t believe me.
A juxtaposition of figures from Statistics Sweden and legal information has yielded similar results for other common Muslim names as well
Profiling may likewise save lives but that’s something our betters seem less concerned with than pandering to the woke and the indoctrinated.
Where Christians have the Beatitudes, progressives have platitudes. As the scheduled House “Impeachment Inquiries” wrap up I wonder which will serve their constituents better; we begin with the platitudes…
‘What it is is’ turns out to be, as the President has noted several times,
a witch hunt. But it’s not quite ‘the end of the day’ yet; now it’s our turn.
So far I’m giving the contest to the Beatitudes, specifically #9: Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
It looks like there was another Dem debate last night. The only thing different from their first 50 or so was the jacket Lizzy chose to wear; this one was hip length rather than cropped at the waist. I think it’s a subliminal message of some sort but it went over my head.
And check out this pre-debate photo: the most disturbing aspect about is the fact that Joe Biden looks the most presidential of the lot.
As usual I didn’t watch but the highlights reel was pretty entertaining: filled with the usual references to Medicare for all, housing shortages, climate change, the top 1%, a couple classic “Just Joe Being Joe” gaffes and a few mean girl taunts from the gals. I suspect the audience was slim as most Dems were exhausted after enduring 11 straight hours of “impeachment investigation hearings.”
Even as the House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday heard crucial testimony from pivotal witness Gordon Sondland, the Senate voted to confirm Trump’s latest appointee to the Atlanta-based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, a regional appeals court handling cases from Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
So with that in hand I feel perfectly fine switching the focus of today’s Throwback Thursday post to vintage Thanksgiving pieces. I grew up with Turkey Day artifacts similar to these:
I can’t speak to the turkey ware but I’m certain the white, Christian, gun toting bible clinging Pilgrim candles are racist so you will not want to be caught using them anymore.
And that reminds me: Thanksgiving Recipe Day is quickly approaching, I’m thinking Sunday. Be prepared.
I have never been a huge fan of Monty Python but I have grudgingly come to admire the timeless genius of silly sketches conceived nearly 50 years ago that still skewer modern culture as freshly as if they were written yesterday. Or perhaps that says more about modern culture…still subject to the wisdom of crowds after all these millennia.
Either way, look at this week’s ongoing “impeachment investigation” and tell me that Monty Python and the Holy Grail didn’t capture its essence in this scene titled, appropriately enough, “Burn the Witch!” No further explanation seems necessary.
VILLAGER #1: We have found a witch, might we burn her?
CROWD: Burn her! Burn!
BEDEVERE: How do you know she is a witch?
VILLAGER #2: She looks like one.
BEDEVERE: Bring her forward.
WITCH: I'm not a witch. I'm not a witch.
BEDEVERE: But you are dressed as one.
WITCH: They dressed me up like this.
CROWD: No, we didn't -- no.
WITCH: And this isn't my nose, it's a false one.
BEDEVERE: Well?
VILLAGER #1: Well, we did do the nose.
BEDEVERE: The nose?
VILLAGER #1: And the hat -- but she is a witch!
CROWD: Burn her! Witch! Witch! Burn her!
BEDEVERE: Did you dress her up like this?
CROWD: No! (no no... no) Yes. (yes yeah) a bit (a bit bit a bit)
VILLAGER #1: But she has got a wart!
BEDEVERE: What makes you think she is a witch?
VILLAGER #3: Well, she turned me into a newt. (pause & look around)
BEDEVERE: A newt!?
VILLAGER #3: Well,I got better.
VILLAGER #2: Burn her anyway!
(king walks in)
BEDEVERE: Quiet! quiet! Quiet! There are ways of telling whether she is a witch.
CROWD: Are there? What are they?
VILLAGER #2: Do they hurt?
[Pay close attention: here comes the logic…]
BEDEVERE: Tell me, what do you do with witches?
VILLAGER #2: Burn!
CROWD: Burn ‘em!. Burn them up!
BEDEVERE: And what do you burn apart from witches?
VILLAGER #1: More witches! (V2 nudge V1) (pause)
VILLAGER #2: Wood!
BEDEVERE: So, why do witches burn?
[pause]
VILLAGER #3: B--... 'cause they're made of wood?
BEDEVERE: Good!
CROWD: Oh yeah, yeah.
BEDEVERE: So, how do we tell whether she is made of wood?
VILLAGER #1: Build a bridge out of her.
BEDEVERE: Ahh, but can you not also make bridges out of stone?
VILLAGER #2: Oh, yeah.
BEDEVERE: Does wood sink in water?
VILLAGER #1: No, no.
VILLAGER #2: It floats! It floats!
VILLAGER #1: Throw her into the bog!
CROWD: The bog!
BEDEVERE: What also floats in water?
VILLAGER #1: Bread!
VILLAGER #2: Apples!
VILLAGER #3: Very small rocks!
VILLAGER #1: Cider!
VILLAGER #2: Grape gravy!
VILLAGER #1: Cherries!
VILLAGER #2: Mud!
VILLAGER #3: Churches -- churches!
VILLAGER #2: Lead -- lead!
KING: A duck.
[all look and stare at king]
CROWD: Oooh.
BEDEVERE: Exactly! So, logically...
VILLAGER #1: If... she... weighs the same as a duck.. she's made of wood.
BEDEVERE: And therefore?
[pause & think]
VILLAGER #1: A witch!
CROWD: A witch! A witch! A witch!
BEDEVERE: We shall use my largest scales!
[yelling] [push her into scale]
BEDEVERE: Right, remove the stops!
[whop] [creak] wait while scales remains still
CROWD: A witch! A witch!
WITCH: It's a fair cop.
CROWD: Burn her! Burn her!
[yelling]
BEDEVERE: Who are you who are so wise in the ways of science?
KING: I am Arthur…
BEDEVERE: My liege!
[scene closes]
So, what have we learned? When your facts are wrong, or ignored for the purpose of your argument, you are free to commit all the very best logic fallacies in the world.
Which of course will lead you to a false conclusion, but then, isn’t that the point? We’ve always known it’s been nothing more than a witch hunt.
If you wish to watch the original version, it’s here:
I only ask because what as recently as anytimeduring the Obama years would have been trumpeted across every headline and blasted non-stop by all news outlets has lately been buried. It’s mostly been covered only by financial outlets, that have nothing else to report.
The damn stock market just continues to be bullish on Trump’s America
And even the financial press seems loath to report the truth behind why the stock market keeps hitting new highs nearly every week. They surely don’t want to give any credit to the President who imposed tariffs, to which they are universally opposed, and passed tax cuts they feared would backfire. So instead they credit China, specifically the rising optimism for a U.S.- China trade deal. That’s something that ironically never would have happened but for the tariffs imposed by President Trump.
The truth of course is that the President’s tax cuts, tariffs and U.S. friendly trade deals are working across all sectors of the economy: it is booming. Jobs are plentiful, inflation is under control, if the stupid Democrats would shut up and do their real job the groundwork for another American Century could be firmly laid. But they’d rather salve their festering hurt feelings by trying to impeach a man for beating their unbeatable candidate; their idol whose feet were not just made of clay but were firmly mired in it.
So rather than celebrate America’s resurgent return to greatness that they not-so-secretly loath they prefer to continue disparaging the President to their own ends.
Adam Schiff will continue to accuse him of being a “charlatan” without an “ethical compass.”
“The most profound threat to democracy today is not from Russia... The most grave threat to the life and health of our democracy comes from within, from a president without ethical compass.” - California Democratic Party’s Fall Endorsing Convention November 16, 2019
And Nancy Pelosi will proceed to refer to him as an “imposter”
“I think part of it is his own insecurity as an imposter. I think he knows full well that he's in that office way over his head. And so he has to diminish everyone else.” Face the Nation, November 17, 2019
Which is where this week’s Mirrorless Monday kicks in:
Investigative adjudicator
Inspector Schiff looks into the mirror, sees a charlatan and of course assumes it is President Trump.
And Nancy, who has sworn off mirrors entirely for obvious reasons,
tells us that she and the rest of the Democrats are proceeding with the impeachment investigation “heartbroken and prayerful” and expects us to believe that President Trump, not she, is the “imposter.”
I don’t know about you, but I’m not tired of winning yet.
An arctic blast left unseasonably early snow and ice all across the country last week.
Apparently President Trump said mean things about Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch that made her feel bad…and threatened.
Ms. Yovanovitch told investigators that when she learned Mr. Trump had criticized her in a July phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart, “the color drained from my face.”
“[I was] shocked, appalled, devastated that the president of the United States would talk about any ambassador like that to a foreign head of state,” Ms. Yovanovitch said.
“It was a terrible moment.…I think I even had a physical reaction,” she said. Of the president’s comment about what she would “go through,” she said: “It didn’t sound good. It sounded like a threat.” – WSJ
Then he tweeted some more mean things about her while she was testifying and that made her feel threatened, again.
Now I don’t want to make Ms. Yovanovitch feel any worse than she already does, but isn’t she just a wee bit long in the tooth to be such a snowflake?
