SCOTUS Reality vs. #HillaryByProxy “Moral Principle”

The question of the day: does Donald Trump seem as immoderate today as you once thought?

Does banning Muslims from entering the country “until we figure out what’s going on” seem immoderate when you consider the behavior of jihadis around the world? Does enforcing the immigration statutes on the books seem immoderate in light of what jihadis do in their spare time - murder, rape, acid dips, converting airliners to weapons of mass destruction?

Or in light of the number of illegal aliens pouring across our borders daily with impunity?

Here come the “niños”

I guess you could stay aboard the #HillaryByProxy Express like Mitt Romney, Bill Kristol, Eric Ericson and Glen Beck and hope for the best. Butt I see others are beginning to soften their positions as reality intrudes on their purity. Take Charles Krauthammer for example; the composition of the Supreme Court finds his pragmatism prevailing over his misguided neo-conservatism:

…the major thing is the fear of what a Clinton presidency would do to the Supreme Court and how it would change it for a generation.
Now you get a list of 11 who are quite sterling, three of them clerked for Justice Thomas, two of them for Justice Scalia. The six federal judges all appointed by George W. which means they are conservative, and they are relatively young. So this is a future looking list.

Good call. Trump’s list doesn’t look “moderate” at all in the Democrats’ sense of the word, and that’s the best form of immoderate. Without the 1st or 2nd Amendment we’ll have hell to pay trying to maintain any semblance of a republic.

All I can say to the Romneys, Kristols, Ericsons, Becks and others who originally supported ABT (anyone butt Trump) is this: I understand. Butt as the reality of a #HillaryByProxy Supreme Court sinks in I hope you all realize that there really isn’t anyone butt Trump. Not now.

 

If I may borrow javisp’s quote on a completely different topic: "hell hath no fury like a vested interest masquerading as a moral principle".

Everything You Need To Know About the #HillarybyProxy cabal

Okay you Never-Trumpers, I’ll  concede that The Donald is sometimes less than articulate (in the community organizer/orator sense of the word), says some things that seem less than brilliant, can be a bit crude and has some fairly funky looking hair. Which leads some to conclude he isn’t “presidential.”

However, I would expect you, then, to concede that electing the smartest guy (or gal) in the room with the sharpest crease in his/her trousers, whose primary qualifications entail being “articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy (or gal)” won’t exactly work out all that well either.

Too cool for school

So to quote The Donald himself, “what have you got to lose?”

Actually, chumps, everything.

The reason we need the History Channel is not just because people forget; it’s because most people fail to see history happening in real time and reminding them of what happened in the past might generate a spark of recognition. For example, Never Trumpers apparently think we’ve got a lot more time before the Zombie Apocalypse commences than we do because they don’t see or feel the hot breath of tyranny at their neck. If they did one would like to think they would take action to thwart it, even with a flawed candidate.

In order to fully comprehend the motivation of #NeverTrumpers however you need to complete a homework assignment; here is the course work: The Flight 93 Election.  I promise it will be the most important article you read all summer, perhaps in many summers. The anonymous author pins the tail on the #NeverTrumpers and leaves them exposed as the asses they are, committed to ensuring the continuance of the status quo that, theoretically, they oppose.

We have a new arm of the Republican party, the #NeverTrump camp. Membership requires only that you are unhappy with the apparent presidential nominee and wish to send a message, although at this juncture it’s unclear exactly who you’re sending it to.

Membership thus far includes George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, Mitt Romney, Gov. Bruce Rauner, and John McCain. Still on the fence: Speaker Ryan. He says he’s not ready to endorse Trump yet.

You know who I bet is ready to endorse Trump? Paul’s primary opponent, Paul Nehlen:

He’s running his own Dump campaign:

The #NeverTrump camp expresses a wide range of issues with Trump: he blew up their son’s/brother’s campaign, they find him too coarse, they think he’s going to cost them the votes of illegal immigrants they were counting on…the reasons are many and varied.

Often cited are rock solid conservative principles – principles as we’ve seen are likely to be set aside as soon as your candidate is entrenched in office anyway. Butt sitting home on your principles or voting for a candidate from the other party whose principles you also don’t support seems, at best, counterproductive. Worse, it makes you a member of the #HillaryByProxy cabal.

It is an unfortunate fact of life in general and politics in particular that we often must choose between the lesser of two evils. I am aware that many intellectual luminaries have opined that choosing between two evils is still choosing evil. Among the enlightened is chief Dead Head Jerry Garcia (RIP):

I would take issue with the wisdom of such inaction. And if you’re to follow the advice of an old, dead, amoral celebrity on such a critical issue I would suggest you at least consider that of Mae West:

Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before.

In fact, I think that might make a great slogan for the Trump campaign:

The Village Idiot; Fundamentally Transformed

Guess who changed their mind and is now going to vote for Trump?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know: Ted Cruz. Butt this is even BIGGER! I don’t normally cover the Village Idiot butt this - this is YUGE! Kimmie Kardashian might switch her allegiance from Hillary and go with Trump!!!! 

And wait till you hear why - Caitlyn! That’s right Caitlyn Jenner set her straight, how ironic is that?

Can Kanye be far behind?

Or will this create irreconcilable differences in yet another Kardashian marriage? Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, apparently Ted Cruz either came to his senses and realized that his pride isn’t as important as the future of his children or he decided that he might need the RNC at some point in his future career plan so he announced he’s sort of supporting Trump.

Cruz said he made the decision because he wants to keep his word to support the Republican nominee – and he finds Hillary Clinton “wholly unacceptable.”

I think Reince Priebus may deserve a bit more respect than I’ve been willing to give in the past:

“Look, people who agreed to support the nominee, who took part in our process, they used tools from the RNC. They agreed to support the nominee. They took part in our process,” Priebus explained.

“We’re a private party. We’re not a public entity. Those people need to get on board,” he warned. “And if they’re thinking they’re going to run again someday, I think we’re going to evaluate the nomination process, and I don’t think it’s going to be that easy for them. I think these are things that our party’s going to look at in the process. I think people who gave us their word, used information from the RNC, should get on board.” - Raw Story

As you know I was a yuge Ted supporter until he hid behind his conscience in order to become the de facto leader of the #HillaryByProxy movement. And before he revealed his conscience to be more id than superego.

So I’m glad he decided to do the right thing even if he did have to be cattle prodded into it.

I don’t expect Jeb to join the new Republican party as everyone knows the Bushes are finally over. Nor do I expect John Kas-ick to join as he really is a little man, even if his father was a mailman. And he isn’t that smart.

Butt Cruz…welcome back buddy. Make nice with The Donald and I see no reason why you can’t be the first Supreme Court Justice to step down after 8 years and go on to win the presidency. That would be historical.

After all, as Ted said, DJT can’t Make America Great Again all by himself. So thanks for keeping your word.

Let Wisdom Guide Your Heart

When Joe Biden advised Hillary to “let them see your heart a little more” I suspect he had something a bit warmer and fuzzier in mind than the “basket of deplorable” reference.

Even Spengler, hardly a Trumper at heart, sees the the importance of the deplorables:

You can’t win an American presidential election without the deplorables’ vote. Deplorables are America’s biggest minority. They might even be the American majority… They’re the median family whose real income has fallen deplorably by 5% in the past ten years, the 35% of adult males who deplorably have dropped out of the labor force, the 40% of student debtors who deplorably aren’t making payments on their loans, the aging state and local government workers whose pension funds are $4 trillion short. They lead deplorable lives and expect that their kids’ lives will be even more deplorable than theirs.

So as Hillary holes up in Chappaqua to recover from her “pneumonia”  let us pray that her heart heals as well.

Can Trump save America? There are no guarantees of course. And despite Trump’s association with gambling establishments, it’s a Hillary presidency that presents the worst odds: “(the deplorables) look at the American economy as a lottery…they know the game is rigged.” The deplorables are savvy enough to know that with a vote for Hillary – either directly or by a #HillarybyProxy posture - the House odds will remain  insurmountably stacked against them. So let wisdom be your guide to lead you away from the heart of darkness.
